Most home addition projects start for Owners Choice in the $350-375 per square foot range. Depending on complexity and what the space entails (kitchen, bathroom, bonus room), cost can increase from there. For example, a 500 sq/ft suite addition (bedroom, bathroom, walk in closet) will most likely start in the $175 to $200K range.

The two most common projects we do are larger, multispace additions (500-1500 sq/ft) and porch additions. We’ve also done garage additions, bathroom additions, and 2nd story additions.

This can vary depending on size and complexity. For a straightforward porch or sunroom addition, this could take 3 months. Larger, more complex additions will typically take 5+ months and can take up to a year.

It depends on the complexity of tying into the home and the impact of the existing home. If tying in has minimal impact - such as a porch attaching the the back of the house - that living through the project, although challenging, is possible. For complex additions that necessitate opening up the home and structural adjustments, living at home is not feasible. We can advise on this question as early as the first site visit.
